Just after filming these videos we had a couple of very cold days and a light freeze. Pablo Martorell (our winemaker) and Andres Rodriguez (our agronomist) believe that any impact on wine quality will be minimal.

WEATHER UPDATE: FREEZING TEMPERATURES

We wanted to let you know that on March 30th and March 31st the temperature in the vineyards briefly dropped below freezing. In both cases, the below-zero temperatures lasted for short periods of time (less than 30 minutes).

These freezes came earlier than usual and are significant because we are still in the middle of harvest. Frost at this stage has the potential to damage the stems and maturing berries, which can impact the quality of the fruit. To ensure the highest quality fruit possible, we immediately accelerated the harvest schedule and expect to complete the harvest by April 16th. We are also pushing the wineries that purchased grapes to harvest as quickly as possible, as the frost will also cause more rapid dehydration and loosening of the berries from the stems which will in turn affect the final yields.

Pablo Martorell (our winemaker) and Andres Rodriguez (our agronomist) believe that any impact on winemaking will be minimal. We won’t know the effect on yields until the harvest is complete. Harvest costs as a result of the demand for workers will likely be higher.

We will keep you updated if there are any further developments.
